Blind Willie Canttell Bridges
(formerly Sighted Willie Canttell Bridges)
A dark stained maple neck (on the banjo) was Willie’s
trademark. Blinded by Planter’s Warts while picking wheat on the Billy-Bob
Bernstein Motzah Plantation, Willie made a living selling sanitary napkins
through song at the traveling menstrual shows which flowed through the South
at the turn of the century. When “someone was in the kitchen with Dinah”,
it was usually Willie – legendary for his fancy fingerwork.
